Fashion Week
As usual, there are a lot of trends emerging just before Fashion Month begins, and these trends pretty much dictate the entire street style scene. For some, this may appear to be a repeat of trends and aesthetics, or even the overexposure of select individual pieces. The “ugly sneaker” craze is one that we never imagined would catch on, but here they are, loved by practically everyone right now.
Statement knits are less popular right now because it’s still summer and the temps aren’t becoming very cold. Since we are usually a little ahead of schedule in the fashion industry, I’m now researching the best knits for Fall/Winter 2019 and have teamed up with Veronica Beard, a company that holds a special place in my heart, to style three of their greatest offerings.
But since New York Fashion Week is quickly approaching and you just want to know what to wear, we merged the two and came up with three incredible pieces for fashion week that are both street style great and the ideal complement to your fall wardrobe.
You may recall that I’m the girl who prefers to pair dresses with boots or shoes. I adore high heels, but I prefer wearing them with my favourite pair of boyfriend jeans rather than a dress. Of course, I’m not arguing that dresses and shoes are inappropriate, but this is a characteristic of my particular style that sets me apart. The same is true when layering knitwear with skirts and dresses. It has always been one of my go-to outfits for when I’m not sure what to wear and most likely always will be.
For this collaboration, I chose three knits that, despite their unassuming appearance, are unmistakably making a statement in detail: The detail on the back of the first one gives it a “western” vibe. With the zipper open, you may display your favourite piled necklaces, or wear it more like a turtleneck with your hair pulled back. The maxi dress is fitting around the hips as well, so I thought it would be interesting to layer it on top of it because the knit has a close fit on the bottom. This makes the two pieces flow really well together and creates a wonderful silhouette. However, a flat or heel would make it appear too feminine, so a cool pair of Western boots might help to maintain this “Saloon” look.
